Welcome back to E³ (E-cubed).

Today we have an expression that I really like. To stay ahead of the game. To stay ahead of the game. To stay ahead of the crowd, to stay ahead of the competition. Instead of stay, we can say to be ahead, to get ahead. There are many variations, but let stick with to stay ahead of the game. Now, what does this mean?  This means to have an advantage in some competitive situation. If somebody is staying ahead of the game, that means they’re very successful in what they do. So, in business, how does your company stay ahead of the game? Well, we try to study the trends very closely.  We talk with the consumers, we study the environment, that’s how we have a competitive advantage. That’s how we are more successful than other people. To stay ahead of the game. In sports: Shane, you’re a fantastic marathon runner. How do you stay ahead of the game? Well, I exercise twice a day, I eat only healthy food, I never smoke, I never drink alcohol, and I’m always very focused on my competition on my running style. So to do something that gives you an advantage, a competitive advantage. Stay ahead of the game. And me? No, I’m not a marathon runner. My sister is. She’s excellent. She’s really is. She’s top on American marathon runner. Me? I’m just a fat boy. I’m a marathon beer drinker. No, it’s not really true. One, maybe two beers a day. But on YouTube, yeah, I want to stay ahead of the game. On YouTube, I’m trying to gain a competitive advantage on YouTube. Okay.

That’s right. That’s a good answer. So somebody who is a very smart stock investor, the stock market, probably they’re watching business trends and business news very carefully, political news, watching all of that stuff and choosing, selecting, picking the best stocks. They wake up very early in the morning, study the business trend, and then go to work. They’re trying to stay ahead of the game. Staying ahead of the game is not easy. It takes lots of work, lots of focus, lots of determination, but if you really do work hard in your area, I guarantee, you can stay ahead of the game. So, good luck.

Isso significa ter uma vantagem em alguma situação competitiva. Se alguém está na frente da concorrência, significa que ele é muito bem sucedido no que faz. Assim, no mundo dos negócios, como é que a sua empresa fica à frente da concorrência? Bem, tentamos estudar as tendências de perto. Isso é certo. Essa é uma boa resposta. Então, alguém que é investidor de ações muito inteligente, o mercado de ações, provavelmente está observando as tendências e notícias de negócios com muito cuidado, noticiário político, observando todo esse material e escolhendo, selecionando, escolhendo as melhores ações.
